As today’s world increasingly values mobility, the call for a safe environment has become more urgent.

Floor surfaces are not simply what we walk on. They are the paths to our dreams, our destinations. They lead us back to our loved ones who give us the strength to achieve and encouragement to pursue new realms in life.

In the Philippines, safety has been a much neglected concern. Everyday, million of people leave their homes, rushing through the crowd, beating time and traffic rules, amidst the bustle of urban daily life, without much protection.

What is surprising is that despite surface-related accidents in public and private places, no concrete and widespread effort for the increased awareness of an individual’s right to be ensured from slip and fall accidents has been made. Many times, these life-threatening accidents are dismissed as mere inconveniences or, more commonly, as ‘bad luck’.

Yet one may ask how many people have been injured by the many accidents on the road, platforms, malls, hotels, offices, and stations? How much of their productivity greatly affected? How many of these accidents could have actually been prevented?

Public safety is a citizen’s natural right. Its measures should be implemented in the many places people frequent. It should be the priority of both government and private institutions.
